Back to the Beach Camporee - 100 years of Scouting in OOB

Over the weekend of May 17-19, 2019, Troops 310 and 308 were the hosts of the York District Spring Camporee in Old Orchard Beach.  The event was an anniversary celebration of the first Scout Encampment that took place in OOB in 1919. 350 Scouts and leaders from all over Maine and a few from NH and MA came and camped out ON THE BEACH!  The scouts participated in track and field and scout skills challenges.  There were exhibits from a chainsaw carver, Breaktrail Adventures, and Marine Mammals of Maine.  A scout parade was held followed by a memorial flag ceremony at Veteran's Memorial Park.  A campfire ceremony was held next to the pier as a closing ceremony.  OOB365 was a sponsor of the event.  We wish to thank OOB365, Sharri MacDonald,  the Old Orchard Public Works Department, the OOB Police Department, the OOB Fire Department, the Maine Marine Warden Service, Dennis Robillard,  and all of the adult volunteers that made this event a very memorable experience for the scouts.

White Water Rafting Summer 2019

The troop went White Water Rafting on the Kennebec River with Three Rivers Rafting!  We camped at the campground right on the river.  We cooked Chicken Pot Pie over the fire in Dutch Ovens! We got to swim in Moxie Falls and we went on a hike.  The most exciting part was going through the rapids of the Kennebec! We had a few scouts that fell out of the boat! But everyone had a great time!
